YOUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU!

Badenoch & Strathspey Community Transport Company is delighted with our recent Big Lottery Funding Award which will ensure our continued operations and development of projects for the next few years. We will be able to continue to meet the needs of our vulnerable clients, to get them out and about and reduce their loneliness and isolation.

There has been an increase in demand for our transport services, as well as our assisted shopping projects, befriending service and music afternoons, which increases the need for volunteers within our local communities in the Spey Valley.

In Aviemore and Vicinity, we have a particular need for volunteer drivers for our Community Transport Vehicle (CTV) which helps clients, some of whom have high level mobility issues, get out and about. This is a VW Transporter and can be driven on a normal car driving licence and full orientation and operational training will be provided. Runs are in and around Aviemore and a passenger assistant may also accompany the driver if needed. It can be a regular weekly commitment or done on an as and when available basis.

We also offer free MIDAS training for anyone interested in driving our larger 14 seater bus (or other community minibuses). This enables you to drive any minibus which has between 9 and 16 seats, for larger groups on outings.  Our buses are available for hire, with or without a driver.

Passenger assistants and shopping helpers are also valuable members of our volunteering team. At present we offer assisted shopping at the local Tesco store on a Thursday morning, starting from 10am. It involves about 1 hour of time on whatever weeks you can manage and is quite a sociable experience between clients, volunteers and staff in the store.

If you are interested in knowing more about what we do, or would like to join our happy band of volunteers then please get in touch by any means below, or contact Ros on 01479 810004 or email ros@ct4u.co.uk. Volunteers can attend any of our various free training sessions eg. First Aid, Stroke Awareness, Winter Driving and many more.
